A sword swing is never just an animation. In Beyond the Veil, every strike is a negotiation between a dozen systems: stamina cost, recovery frames, hit-stop, camera shake, and the tiny audio cue that tells your hands the blow landed.
We start with the feeling we want — “heavy, committed, dangerous” — and work backwards. A light attack that’s too fast feels weightless; one frame too slow and it feels unfair. The sweet spot is somewhere your body learns before your brain does.
This week we shipped an internal build where heavy attacks finally read as decisions. More on the stamina model — and how it feeds the extraction loop — next time.
